An authoritative guide that explores in depth the cultural, technological and methodological concerns to practice three-timezone (3TZ) e-learning in educational contexts. It is important from a pedagogical and practical perspective to impart educational methods and tools that will enable students to be ready for the interconnected, cross-collaborative work environment advocated by modern business practice. The 'local is global' paradigm provides the platform on which students are able to effectively build their knowledge repertoire through the interaction and exchange of project tasks amongst local/global teams, where the traditional barriers of time and location are no longer applicable. The situational and social learning dimensions gained from the explored issues covered in the book will provide a greater awareness to the reader for the need for teaching practice for the '3TZ' enabled workforce. Contents * Teaching Practice-based Subjects in 3 Time Zones (3TZ) Virtual Student Exchange (VSX) Environment * Collaborative Team Project Management * Toward the 24-Hour Knowledge Factory in Software Development * 24/7 Application in Medical Research * Worldwide Teams in Software Development * Virtual Student Exchange: Developing New Educational Paradigms to Support 24-7 Engineering * Data and Knowledge-Transfer Model for the Development of Software Requirements analysis CASE Tools designed for Cross-Time-Zone Projects.
The book gathers the chapters of Cognitive InfoCommunication research relevant to a variety of application areas, including data visualization, emotion expression, brain-computer interfaces or speech technologies. It provides an overview of the kind of cognitive capabilities that are being analyzed and developed. Based on this common ground, it may become possible to see new opportunities for synergy among disciplines that were heretofore viewed as being separate. Cognitive InfoCommunication begins by modeling human cognitive states and aptitudes in order to better understand what the user of a system is capable of comprehending and doing. The patterns of exploration and the specific tools that are described can certainly be of interest and of great relevance for all researchers who focus on modeling human states and aptitudes. This innovative research area provides answers to the latest challenges in influence of cognitive states and aptitudes in order to facilitate learning or generally improve performance in certain cognitive tasks such as decision making. Some capabilities are purely human, while others are purely artificial, but in general this distinction is rarely clear-cut. Therefore, when discussing new human cognitive capabilities, the technological background which makes them possible cannot be neglected, and indeed often plays a central role. This book highlights the synergy between various fields that are perfectly fit under the umbrella of CogInfoCom and contribute to understanding and developing new, human-artificial intelligence hybrid capabilities. These, merged capabilities are currently appearing, and the importance of the role they play in everyday life are unique to the cognitive entity generation that is currently growing up.
This easy-to-understand book discusses applications of current technologies and the foundations for their extension into emerging areas in the future. It includes research presented at two conferences: 5th International IBM Cloud Academy Conference, 2017, held in Wroclaw, Poland. 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Assisted and System Engineering, 2017, held in Guilin, China. These conferences focused on system and application engineering, including achievements in the interdisciplinary topics of cloud computing, big data, IoT and mobile communications. Featuring 19 chapters, the book has the potential to influence current and future research and applications combining the best attributes of computing, mathematics, artificial intelligence, biometrics and software engineering to create a comprehensive research application domain.

This carefully edited book presents recent research in Innovative Technologies in Management and Science, representing a widely spread interdisciplinary research area with many applications in various disciplines including engineering, medicine, technology, or environment, among others. It consists of eleven invited and scholarly edited chapters written by respectable researchers and experts in the fields that integrate ideas and novel concepts in Intelligent Systems and Informatics. Most of the chapters were selected from the initial contributions to the World of Innovation Conference held on April 3, 2012 in Wroclaw, Poland. The contributions are focusing on research and development of the latest IT technologies, in the field of Cloud Computing, IT modeling, as well as optimization problems. The chapters presented can be grouped into three categories: Innovation supported by Clouds Technology, Innovation proposals in management area, and Theoretical refinement for innovative solutions.
This book offers an excellent presentation of intelligent engineering and informatics foundations for researchers in this field as well as many examples with industrial application. It contains extended versions of selected papers presented at the inaugural ACASE 2012 Conference dedicated to the Applications of Systems Engineering. This conference was held from the 6th to the 8th of February 2012, at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, organized by the University of Technology, Sydney (Australia), Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland) and the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg (Austria). The book is organized into three main parts. Part I contains papers devoted to the heuristic approaches that are applicable in situations where the problem cannot be solved by exact methods, due to various characteristics or dimensionality problems. Part II covers essential issues of the network management, presents intelligent models of the next generation of networks and distributed systems as well as discusses applications of modern numerical methods in large intractable systems. Part III covers salient issues of complexity in intelligent system applications. This part also contains papers and articles which discuss concurrency issues that arise when multiple systems attempt to use the same radio space and the inter-connected system applications in the field of medical simulation and training.
